I almost forgot to review this hotel from my stay on Saturday August 30th.

The Hilton Canary Wharf has a good location and is easily walkable from Canary Wharf Underground Station. We booked two rooms here for three reasons:

  • It was just a short Underground ride to Stratford where we were attending the Secret Cinema Back to the Future event.
  • The hotel offers parking for £20 per day.
  • We have two Hilton Gold cards and so would hope for two upgraded rooms, breakfast and wifi.

Despite arriving at 13:30, all 25 parking spaces were full. This was pretty disappointing. The concierge directed us to the Britannia International Hotel, with similar chargeable parking, about 10 minutes walking distance. This hotel had the most dilapidated car park that you could imagine, full of dark nooks and crannies and seemingly abandoned cars. So if you are woman driving to the Hilton Canary Wharf at night then you may not feel comfortable parking at the alternative site. Retrieiving your vehicle is also complicated as you have to queue at the International Hotel reception and purchase an exit ticket, then collect your vehicle. The only positive note was that we were able to leave our car outside the Hilton front entrance while checking in and unloading.

We had booked a standard and an executive room – both were upgraded. The check –in desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

The Executive Lounge was particularly good and this seemed mostly down to the work of the lounge receptionist who spent a lot of time ensuring everything was available and greeting guests by name.

I’d recommend this hotel if you plan on spending the weekend in London and need a base near to the O2 arena, tower bridge and the riverside restaurants along Shad Thames walk. Just bear in mind that you are likely to be re-directed to the other hotel car park if you bring a vehicle.
