The Jardin Exotique de Monaco is a beautifully-landscaped cliff-side garden that completes with a visit to a spectacular cave system.

The entrance is at the top of the cliff and you walk down through the garden and then down 220 steps to the bottom of the cave. The steps in the (humid) cave are slippery and uneven – it’s a hard climb back up. If you have any problems walking or climbing then I’d avoid at least the cave trip.

There’s a good interactive map here.

We purchased a joint ticket that provided entrance to the garden/cave and the Oceanographic Museum (not within walking distance) – which is actually a really good aquarium. That saved 30% against the price of two separate purchases.

The garden walk is self-guided. The cave tour is run by a guide and so you need to wait at the entrance until the designated tour time. There are magnificent views of Monaco to be had while you wait.

Scroll down for a series of pictures taken in/from the garden and cave.
