IHG Ambassador is the status program for Intercontinental Hotels. IHG also own Holiday Inn. The IHG Ambassador program is unusual in that you can purchase Ambassador status for $200 and that also gives you Holiday Inn Gold Elite status – although that isn’t that valuable.

In addition, when you sign up and pay for this program, you are given a voucher for a second night weekend free at Intercontinental Hotels – you have to pay for the first night.

Until November 29th, IHG are offering an additional 10,000 bonus points if you pay for status. The link to their sale is here: https://www.ihg.com/content/gb/en/deals/member-offers/your-world-sale-eu?viewfullsite=true&trial=true&cm_sp=OSMEU-6C-GB-EN-FOF-IX-COM-1505_Worldsale17

Just scroll down until you see this:

Obviously, it’s only worth paying $200 if you plan to stay at an Intercontinental Hotel and use the voucher – or may be if you’re planning several stays at a Holiday Inn.

Here are the main Ambassador benefits:

  • Guaranteed 4PM check out
  • Guaranteed one category upgrade on paid stays
  • Welcome amenity

And the (poor) Holiday Inn Elite benefits:

  • Late checkout: However, neither the benefits page nor the program’s terms & conditions specify how late this is available.
  • Priority check-in
  • Bonus points: As a Gold member, you’ll earn 10% more points than non-elites
