I previously wrote here about the Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary Fan Fest here. Yesterday, Friday 8th June, we attended the evening screening of Ghostbusters introduced by Dan Aykroyd, William Atherton, Ernie Hudson, Ivan Reitman and Jason Reitman.
The location for the screening was the Globe Theatre in downtown LA, just a few blocks from ‘Skid Row’.
There was an Ecto-1 replica outside made from a Pontiac – I guess if I owned a ’59 Cadillac, I wouldn’t drive it to downtown LA either.
There were plenty of fans outside.
Inside was a grand old beaux arts style theatre. The atmosphere was pretty good with a full bar and hot dogs for sale.
Upstairs had some bar tables and a raised VIP area for those who had purchased the most expensive tickets.
At 7pm Dan Aykroyd came out on stage to introduce the movie and invite some special guests on stage.
Everyone really embraced the movie, repeating classic lines and cheering. The seats were pretty uncomfortable and plenty of people stood throughout the entire movie.
Fans spilled out into the night to the amazement of the local druggies and homeless.
Today’s events (noon to 8pm) are held at Sony Pictures Studio Lot
10202 West Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA.
