The Hotel Chiqui has a perfect location by the beach in Santander. Our room was comfortable and the view from the terrace was lovely. I’d be happy to stay here again.
We stayed three nights in late September and the weather was still warm – Sea chilly. Total price EUR 374.
All rooms have a sea view, ours was one at the front, just below the Chiqui sign – you can see the illuminated balconies.
We arrived mid-afternoon. The hotel parking is quite small and there weren’t any spaces – we just parked directly outside. We later moved the car back down the street a little where there was free parking. Check in was pretty quick although they didn’t mention that a key (with deposit) was required for the room safe – so I had to go back down. At least the safe wasn’t chargeable.
Our room had an entrance hall with doors leading to the bathroom and bedroom.
During check in, we were offered breakfast at a discounted rate so long as we paid for all three breakfasts in advance. I can’t imagine why anyone would take such a deal without knowing what the breakfast would be like. As it was we picked up pastries and coffee from a local cafe and had breakfast on our terrace – with this view.
There was an air-conditioning thermostat on the wall – whatever we set, nothing happened. We didn’t bother reporting the issue as it wasn’t so hot. I’d be be concerned during a Summer visit.
It was maybe a 15 minute walk around the beach to a great restaurant called La Cania. You can see the hotel in the background.
While on the beach I took this video. As you can see, a relaxed atmosphere and still great weather in September.
I’d certainly consider staying here again and really enjoyed the time in Santander.
