Hergetova Cihelna has a fantastic riverside location in Prague, with views to the historic Charles Bridge. The food and service are excellent. It’s also surprisingly inexpensive.
Always a great place and missed during the lockdown, they are now open. And what better way to celebrate than with a party. The weather (Friday 12th June) was perfect for drinks, canapés and music on the Cihelna terrace.
The wine was flowing and the canapés absolutely delicious. Each canapé was a miniature version of a dish from the menu; fish and chips, tikka masala and burgers.
Nils Jebens, the owner of both Cihelna and Kampa Park (the more famous restaurant next door), was there to greet and chat with guests.
As you can imagine, we had a great time – I mean who doesn’t love a free party at a place like Cihelna?
Looking at the menu, I’d be happy to pay next time. I’m not sure if the prices have been reduced, but there’s some amazing value; a large Pilsner Urquell for 55 Kč, a 0.15l Primitivo for 105 Kč, a chicken tikka masala with basmati rice 265 Kč and some great pudding options for 155 Kč. So if you had a couple of beers, couple of wines, two main courses and two puddings, your bill would be 1160 Kč (EUR 43, USD 49, GBP 39). That’s fine dining with a great view at pub prices.
