Country music stars, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, spent almost twenty years developing a Bahamian island into an amazing luxury resort-like residence. It’s now for sale for $35 million.

The couple bought the island known as Goat Cay in 2003. It’s located in the Exumas, a district of the Bahamas comprised of a chain of over 365 islands, about 280 miles east of Miami. They renamed the island L’ile d’Anges (French for Isle of Angels).

The place looks amazing – if you won $100 million on the lottery tomorrow, would you buy it?

On the main beach are two ‘yurts’, initially built as temporary accommodation, but which provide further excellent high quality, beach front accommodation for guests who want to fall asleep to the sound of gently lapping waves.

The ‘great room’ main reception space is ideal for family use or indeed for entertaining, with the living room opening onto the pool terrace.

The island itself extends to some 20 acres with almost 1.3 miles of water frontage.

There is a wonderful main bedroom suite and three further bedroom suites which are stand alone, yet connected by the open covered walkways.

There are almost 5,000 sq ft of breezy, open, covered verandas and passageways.

If you get bored of the beach and warm sea, there’s always the pool.

The main residence is at a high point in the centre of the island next to two beautiful white sandy beaches, which connect on either side of the island through the abundant palm trees.

It’s just great isn’t it?

The entire island.

I can imagine living there and loving it for several weeks. You would staff, including a private chef, so there’d be amazing food every day.

Then I’d start to get bored and invite family and friends to come and stay. After a year, with what could easily be a $2 million cost for running the place, I might start to think that it would be more interesting and less expensive to tour the world and stay in ultra-luxury hotels.

I’m still surprised that Faith Hill and Tim McGraw decided to sell – they make that sort of money in just one year.

The island is being sold by agents Knight Frank – they made this video.

Would you buy this island if you had the money?
