The Hilton Watford is situated on a bleak road, more than two miles from Watford town centre. The hotel seems to cater for conferences and guests unaware of the actual location.

The reception area has been recently refurbished. There is also a pantry – something that you would find at a Hilton Garden Inn.
For my one-night stay, I was upgraded to a junior suite – a Hilton Diamond benefit. There isn’t an executive lounge and I wasn’t offered any bar nor snack vouchers to compensate for that.
The view was about as good a view as you can expect, considering the location.
The room was like an oven as the wall heater had been left on.
There isn’t air conditioning and there were only small windows to open and cool the place down.
The bathroom was okay, but there weren’t any bathrobes nor slippers – something you’d expect in a junior suite.
The corridors are long and have tired carpets.
Breakfast was reasonable, although there were no Covid precautions in place.
I asked for a 2pm late checkout and was offered 1pm – but eventually managed to agree on 2pm after some negotiating.
The room price reflects the poor location and lack of quality facilities. Despite the generous upgrade, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you are chasing status points. If the hotel was rebranded as a Hilton Garden Inn, that would at least set expectations.
