The Twisted Fig is part of the newly-opened Fitzgerald Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic. The menu looks good and the prices are very reasonable. They also just opened a large summer terrace.
The entrance, to both the hotel and bistro, is beautifully decorated.
To the right is a bar/bistro area – the Fitzgerald cat logo in neon on the wall.
To the left is a more formal space.
Both share the same evening menu, although there is a special ‘happy hour’ bar-only menu offered from 3 – 6pm.
Sometimes, you visit a restaurant and hardly anything on the menu appeals. The Twisted Fig menu was just the opposite – I would have gladly ordered any of the choices – well except the ‘Broccoli and cauliflower lasagne’, but that’s just me.
I wouldn’t normally share the entire main course menu, but wanted to share my experience:
Moroccan meatballs, dried apricot, almonds, zaatar, bulgur pilau, spicy yoghurt sauce 210 Kč
Chicken Souvlaki, fried potatoes, roasted pepper puree 195 Kč
Falafel pomegranate tabouleh, tzatziki 190 Kč
Sea Bass fillets, Mediterranean roasted vegetables, minted courgette salad 290 Kč
Seafood pappardelle with prawns, mussels, squid, cherry tomatoes, and garlic bread 280 Kč
Broccoli and cauliflower lasagne 240 Kč
Rib Eye steak with mushrooms, onions, chips and pepper sauce or garlic butter 360 Kč
The prices represent excellent value – I wouldn’t be surprised to see these rise once the place becomes established. The restaurant and bar were empty on a Tuesday evening. The Fitzgerald has its own theatre and offers regular comedy and music evenings – I’d assume there would be pre-theatre diners on performance nights.
The staff were really friendly and helpful.
A glass of Prosecco 49 Kč. A glass of Primitivo 69 Kč. A 1l carafe of water 50 Kč. I normally complain about being charged for tap water, but the wine price easily makes up for that.
We tried the Mediterranean mezze platter 140 Kč.
I could be picky and comment on the lack of mozzarella, olives and tomatoes – but this was very good and great value.
For a main course we had Sea Bass fillets, Mediterranean roasted vegetables, minted courgette salad 290 Kč.
A nice piece of fish and an interesting twist to add paprika to the lemon.
We really enjoyed our evening at The Twisted Fig and will definitely return – after all, I have six other menu items to try!
