If you plan to visit Ponta Delgada, book dinner at A Tasca for every night of your stay and you won’t be disappointed! It’s also a good place for lunch!
We stayed at the Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico and it was just a ten-minute walk into the centre of Ponta Delgada.
A Tasca has an unassuming entrance and you could easily miss it.
Once inside, you’ll find a charming room, with a rustic feel, usually full of customers – more than half were locals.
The staff are really friendly – everyone spoke English.
A 1l carafe of tap water €2. Glass of good house red €2.
Everything we ate was delicious.
Gambas (prawns) a La Bart €11.
Lapas Grelhadas (grilled limpets) €15.
Polvo panado (breaded octopus) €7.
Polvo a Tasqueiro (octopus) €16.
Filetes de peixe de Po (Po fish fillet) €13.50.
Feel free to wander around Ponta Delgada and try to find a better restaurant. If you do find something better, please let us know.
