I’ve never stayed at a Wyndham Hotel before, always choosing to stay where I have loyalty status such as Hilton or Holiday Inn. However, we needed to be near Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre for a Sunday night Luke Bryan concert and there was a good deal on Travelzoo for this ‘not-so-far-away-from-the-venue’ hotel.
The hotel has a large car park, with several levels. You need to take a ticket (rates show $22 per day), but your room key opens the exit barrier – we weren’t charged for parking but I think that was part of the special rate.
Check in was professional and friendly. The room was large with two Queen beds, a lovely bathroom and a cartridge-type coffee machine. I did find one mosquito in my room and spent about 20 minutes until I smashed it.
To the rear of the hotel was a quite small pool and a beautifully landscaped lake and surroundings.
The hotel had an upscale feel to it and it was always quiet there. There was always someone on the door of the hotel, welcoming guests and wishing departing guests a good day.
I guess the only downside to the upscale nature was that there wasn’t a breakfast buffet – the only breakfast available was in the hotel table-service restaurant. The menu looked pretty good, but I didn’t try eating there.
